Teaching Indian dance is one of the main activities of the Foundation. The regular training is offered in five Indian classical dance styles (for beginners, intermediate and advanced students). So, on Bharata Natyam style teachers are: Irina Iskorostenskaya, Nadezhda Kovriga and Dmitry Zmeev.
Ekaterina Seliverstova, Tatiana Nazarova and Mr. Ashvani Nigam teach Kathak style. On Odissi style the instructor is Vitalina Lobach, on Kuchipudi - Irina Strakhovenko, on Mohiniattam – Angelina Haque-Morozova.
Except classical dances, students of the Foundation receive training in the wide spectrum of Indian folk dances as well as dances from Indian films (Bollywood). In addition to dance education we provide regular yoga classes (instructor - Tatiana Nazarova).
The special place in our teaching activity is given to workshops, conducted by our instructors in many cities of Russia; Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus and Switzerland
The high level of training provided by our teachers, helps our students achieve the best results and get prizes at various dance competitions (such as well-known and prestigious competitions, namely Open Moscow Competition of Indian Dance, All-Russia Indian Dance Competition “Festival of Colours”, ORTO Dance Competition).
The Foundation successfully carries out concert activities, representing art of Indian dance in many cities of Russia and abroad. Our productions and concerts as well as solo performances by our teachers are always highly appreciated by the audience.
We also participate in prestigious international and national Festivals, such as Festival "Year of India in Russia - 2009", "Festival Ethnolife", Edinburgh International Festival "Fringe", the International Festival of Pacific Region Cultures and Festival of Museums to name a few.
We also stage Indian classical ballets, like "Das Avatar", "Shrishti", "Shakuntala", "Ritu Chakra", "Raga Ranga", which are trademark acts of "Nritya Sabha". Based on strict rules of Indian classical art, they are innovative at the same time, because they jointly involve dancers of several Indian dance styles in one production. Audience appreciate our ballets, and that is why we keep on evolving our work in this direction.
Workshops and performances of outstanding Indian dancers and famous masters, organized by “Nritya Sabha” is very important part of our activity since in Russia we very rarely see life programmes of Indian classical performers.
The Foundation regularly invites highly reputed professionals from India to carry out workshops in Moscow. For the last few years the Foundation organized visits for Mr. Panga Thodi Narendran (Chennai), Mrs. Sujata Mohapatra (Bhubaneshwar), Mrs. Jolsana Menon (Chennai), Mrs. Shyamala Surendran (Trivandrum), Mrs.Sailaja Narayanaswami (Chennai).
In these workshops dance students and professionals from different cities of Russia participate jointly to improve their level.
The workshops of P.T. Narendran and S. Mohapatra usually culminate in stage performances where participants of workshops get an opportunity to dance on one stage with these famous artists. The audience in return gets their chance to enjoy the spectacular presentation of Indian classical dance.
Lectures-demonstrations and seminars
Lectures-demonstrations and seminars are the important educational activity of the Foundation.
For many years the Foundation carries out regular lectures-demonstrations in the State Oriental Museum (Moscow), covering a wide spectrum of subjects, related not only to dance heritage of India, but also to history, philosophy and cultural traditions of Indian civilization.
Artists of the Foundation regularly visit other cities of Russia (St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, etc.) and the CIS countries (Ukraine, Armenia) with lectures-demonstrations and seminars.
Dance competitions and Festivals
Festivals and dance competitions that we regularly organize for our students are considered as a highlight process in the training of Indian dances. They help our students to try their skills as performers and to do their first steps on a professional stage.
Due to the efforts of “Nritya Sabha” members Moscow Indian dance competition as well as All-Russia Indian dance competition, organized by the Foundation in cooperation with the House of Indian Culture and Business “Indian.ru” became very popular in Russia and CIS countries.
"Nritya Sabha" Foundation always welcomes new ideas and looking forward to collaborating
with all concerned companies and organizations
as well as individuals.
