-25 October 2009 – Programme of Indian classical music by Mrs.Swetlana Janardan – Hindustani vocal, sitar (Moscow club “Open world”)

-15-18 October 2009 - The 3-rd Moscow Indian Dance Competition.

 

-135 participants took part in 17 nominations: in Classical, Folk, Fusion and Bollywood categories as solo, duet and group performances.

The competition was held among adults and children.

Mainly, participants were from Moscow as well as from Saint Petersburg, Apatite, Petrozavodsk, Novosibirsk, and Krasnodar. Few participants came from neighboring countries, such as Ukrain, Belorussia, Azerbaijan. One dancer was from France.

We are happy that, young dancers from India successfully participated in Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi and Bollywood nominations (Arunima Singh took second prize in Kuchipudi dance; Laxmi Rangunathan took part in Bharatnatyam nomination, Sheih Ridi and “Abhinaya” group in Bollywood dance).

It is important to say, that this dance competition would not be possible without support of Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow.

The winners of the Competition participated in Gala Concert, which took place on 19-th of October, 2009 in Gubkin Palace of Culture. This event was organized by “Nritya Sabha” Foundation in collaboration with Indian.Ru (House of Culture and Commerce).

 

The Gala Concert was one of the main attractions of Diwali festival, celebrated on the very same day by Indian community in Moscow and many other people who love Indian culture. http://vkontakte.ru/topic -10714463_21932470

-7 October 2009 – Workshop by renowned Guru in Mohiniattam dance Mrs.Shyamala Surendran from Cochin, India (Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow)

-3 October 2009 – Lecture-demonstration by Indian Dance theatre “Tarang”, leader Mr.A.Nigam: “Angik abhinaya – a body language in Indian dance” (State Oriental museum, Moscow)

-1-10 September 2009 –Workshops on Kathak dance by Mr.A.Nigam (Tuapse, Russia)

-19 July 2009 – “Natya Rekha” dance school, led by Mr.D.Zmeyev participated in the celebration of the Tolerance Day (Moscow)

-July 2009 – Workshops by outstanding performer and Guru in Odissi dance Smt.Sujata Mohapatra from Bhubaneshwar, India. Smt.Sujata gave a solo recital as well. Students of “Odissi Jeevan Nritya” dance school, led by Mrs.V.Lobach also participated (Theatre “Modern”, Moscow)

-July 2009 –Workshops on Kathak dance by Mr.A.Nigam (Sochi, Russia)

-21 July 2009 – Solo recital in Kathak dance by Ms.T.Nazarova (Saraswati music college, New Delhi, India)

-8-26 June 2009 – Workshops by famous performer and Guru in Kuchipudi style Smt.Sailaja Narayanaswami from Chennai, India. Also Smt.Sailaja gave lecture-demonstration (D.P.Dhar hall, Embassy of India, Moscow) and solo performance (Theatre “Fire bird”, Moscow)

-June 2009 – All dance schools of “Nritya Sabha” participated in Summer Bazaar (Embassy of India, Moscow)

-30 May 2009 – Lecture-demonstration by Indian Dance theatre “Tarang”, leader Mr.A.Nigam: “Live Kathak dance” - what does it mean?” (State Oriental museum, Moscow)

-29 May 2009 – Lecture-demonstration by “Chakkar” dance school, leader Ms.E.Seliverstova: “The colorful palette of Bollywood dances” (House of Architecture, Moscow)

-1 April 2009 – Mrs.I.Iskorostenskaia and Mr.D.Zmeev performed for the President of Indian Council for Cultures Relations Doctor Karan Singh during his visit to Moscow (Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Moscow)

-15 March 2009 – Organizing and conducting of the 3-rd All-Russia Indian Dance Competition “Festival of Colours” (Gubkin House of Culture, Moscow). Dance school “Chakkar”,led by Ms.E.Seliverstova and Indian dance theatre “Tarang”, led by Mr.A.Nigam shared the first prize in “classical” nomination. Also “Tarang” won two second prizes in “folk” and “Bollywood” nominations. Few of “Nritya Sabha” members judged the Competition.
