ELEONORA MARGORINA (PETROVA)
Eleonora Margorina (Petrova) – born in 1971, a Russian national, started her training in Kathak dance in Russia while doing hegraduation in history from University of Culture, Moscow.
From March 1988 to May 1992, Mrs. Shakti Roberts was her first teacher in the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre, Moscow. After the completion of her dance course there she was granted scholarship by the ICCR for further studies in India.
From January 1993 to May 1994, she learnt Jaipur style of Kathak from Guru Nandini Singh in Sriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi.
In July 1994, she joined the prime institute for Kathak dance, Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and by May 1996 she completed her three years Diploma (Honours) course under the dynamic guidance of Guru Shri Rajendra Gangani in Jaipur style of Kathak. She also underwent initial training in Hindustati Classical Vocal, Tabla, Pakhawaj and Yoga. She got the First Division marks in her Post Diploma, a two years specialization course from the above mentioned Kathak Kendra in May 1998.
While continuing with her main passion- kathak,t his talented dancer has also undertaken training in Bharatanatyam dance style from Shrimati Jayalakshmi Eshwar in Triveni Kala Sangam.
As an acknowledgment of her achievements she was empanelled with the ICCR’s Reference Board of Artists in February 2000 under her maiden name- Eleonora Petrova.
During her training Eleonora has been giving many commendable performances in Delhi, India, Moscow and many other countries, which were highly appreciated by the audiences and the press. Her solo performance started from Holi Festival at Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra in March, 1994, New Delhi. She also performed in a range of Festivals, organized by Sangeet Natak Academy, Sahitya Kala Parishad, North Indian Zone Cultutral Centre, Habitat Cultural Centre, Russian Cultural Centre and many others. She had the privilege to dance duet with her Guru Shri Rajendra Gangani in Jaipur Kathak Kendra, December 1995, in Sirsa, February 1997, the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of India in Chandigarh, August 1997, at the Habitat Centre in New Delhi, February 1988.
Her creative talents also include the duet performances with many upcoming dancers like Harish Gangani, Monisa Nayak, Devanand Parihar, Dmitry Zmeev, Irina Iskorostenskaya, Tatyana Nazarova and many others. She performed in most parts of Russia, and also in Japan, Ukraine, Latvia, Malasiya, UAE, Pakistan, Thailand, China, Canada, Oman, ect.
From June 2000 Eleonora resided in Moscow where she was teaching dance and also staged dance performances.
In October 2003 Eleonora became one of the founders of the “Nritya Sabha” Foundation – the unique collaboration of professional dancers and performers who has got full education in Indian Classical Art forms from the leading Institutes of India.Presently she is a chief ballet master of “Nritya Sabha” foundation.
Along with her colleges she produced and choreographed two ballets -“Das Avatar”(2006) and “Shrishti”(2007), which were highly evaluated both by tried Moscow public and experienced critics.
From 2007 to 2010 Eleonora resided in India, Delhi, where she has performed extensively and founded a production union and dance troup”Colors’’, choreographed and presented an innumerous number of stage shows with the leading Indian and international artists in India and abroad.
