is a performer and a teacher of Indian classical dance form Odissi
and a head of “Odissi Mangalam” dance studio.
Irina started learning Odissi in 2002 under the guidance of Svetlana Gadalina and later she joined classes of a famous dancer and teacher Vitalina Lobach in JNCC, Embassy of India in Moscow. Vitalina is also head of “Odissi Jivan Nritya” dance school. Being a member of this school Irina took part in various dance productions and festivals in Russia and India.
Since 2007 Irina has undergone training under the guidance of Guru Smt. Sujata Mohapatra and her husband Guru Ratikant Mohapatra in India (Bhubaneswar, Orissa). They run their dance institute SRJAN Odissi Nrityabasa, which was founded in 1993 by the legendary Odissi Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Every year Irina goes to SRJAN to master her Odissi. On the basis of SRJAN Irina has participated in numerous festivals in India, solo and in group. Irina’s performing experience in India has received a very enthusiastic response from the audience and critics.
In August 2011, Irina was among the teaching faculty of Milapfest Dance India Festival 2011 in Liverpool, the United Kingdom, where she was the assistant teacher of her Guru Smt. Sujata Mohapatra, conducting the workshop and taking part in teachers performances.
She also gives major contribution to the organization of the annual workshops conducted by Smt. Sujata Mohapatra in Moscow.
In 2007 and 2008 she won the first place at the Open Contest among Indian Dance Artists in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg, and since 2009 she has been a member of the jury of this contest.
Irina has successfully been teaching Odissi in Moscow since 2009. She runs her own dance studio “Odissi Mangalam”. Many of her students have taken prize-winning places at Indian dance contests and participated in concerts
